Antibodies and antibody-based reagents for glycan detection are in development at BioF:GREAT and will be available soon. No catalogue is published yet.

Available soon. This page will list the reagents, their target epitopes, validated applications and pricing once the catalogue opens. In the meantime, tell us what you need — the antibody request form registers your interest, and we will be in touch when a suitable reagent becomes available. Describing your target and application now also helps the team prioritise which reagents to produce first.

What to expect

Glycan-directed antibodies are harder to raise and harder to validate than antibodies against protein epitopes: carbohydrate epitopes are often small, flexible and shared between structures, so cross-reactivity has to be characterised rather than assumed. Reagents released through this catalogue will therefore be accompanied by the specificity data behind them, in the same way the glycoenzyme catalogue publishes activity data and the NDP sugar catalogue publishes purity and NMR specifications.

Analytical alternatives

Glycan structures can often be established directly by mass spectrometry, linkage analysis or glycan sequencing through the User Facility, without needing a detection reagent.

Glycoenzymes and donors

The glycoenzyme catalogue and the NDP sugar catalogue are open now, including azido sugar analogs for bioorthogonal labelling.

Collaborations. Groups with characterised glycan-directed antibodies, or with a validation capability they would like to contribute, are welcome to contact the BioF:GREAT team — reagent development is one of the areas the initiative pursues through external projects.
