Domestic visitors

Before visiting the CCRC and BioF:GREAT for your project, there are several forms and approvals to complete. The steps below apply to domestic visitors.

Steps

  1. Proposal accepted. A visit follows from an approved user proposal or an agreed collaboration.
  2. Background check. The University of Georgia requires a background check for visiting researchers.
  3. University visitor registration. Registration as a visiting scholar with the UGA Office of Research.
  4. Safety and access training. Laboratory safety training and building access are arranged before bench work begins.

Additional requirements

  • Visa status. Not applicable for domestic visitors.
  • Health insurance. Confirm coverage for the duration of your visit.
  • Accommodation. See the Welcome to Athens guide for housing and practical information.
Timeline. Start the process as early as possible — approvals and, for international visitors, visa processing determine how soon a visit can begin. Contact the BioF:GREAT team for help at any stage.
