User proposals

User proposals are the route for larger glycoscience projects that go beyond routine analytical service. They are short, reviewed, and may carry allocated funding.

What a user proposal is

  • User proposals are for larger glycoscience projects.
  • Proposals are short — typically 1–2 pages completed by the user. The BioF:GREAT team will help you write it.
  • All proposals require an initial consultation with BioF:GREAT, held virtually.
  • All proposals are reviewed by BioF:GREAT’s internal and external reviewers.
  • Funding is determined case by case, and typically ranges from $5,000 to $15,000 or more depending on the project.
  • An existing service request can be upgraded to a user proposal on request.

How to submit

  1. Initial consultation. Arrange a virtual consultation with the BioF:GREAT team to establish scope and feasibility.
  2. Draft the proposal. Prepare the 1–2 page proposal, with help from the team where useful.
  3. Submit. Email the proposal to Steven Berardinelli (sjb96455@uga.edu).
  4. Review. The proposal goes through internal and external review.
  5. Award. Approved projects proceed, with funding allocated where applicable.
